(1)The Chief Inspector shall exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred and imposed on him by or under the Act ; but his principal duty shall normally be the supervision and control of the work of the Deputy Chief Inspector and Inspecting Officers. He shall inspect and examine boilers and steam pipes only in exceptional cases and where he considers that the work of an Inspector or an inspecting Officer requires a person to check.
