(1)The Chief Inspector may, if he considers necessary for the safety of persons, require by an order in writing that in any mine or any class of mines belowground, approved environmental monitoring devices to continuously record information regarding environmental conditions, to be installed belowground within such time and subject to such conditions as he may specify therein.(2)The Chief Inspector may, if he considers necessary for the safety of persons, require by a general or special order in writing analysis of mine air samples by gas chromatography or other equivalent technique.
