Short title, extent and commencement .(1) This Act may be called The Land Acquisition Act, 1894.(2)It extends to the whole of India except [the State of Jammu and Kashmir] [Substituted by Act 68 of 1984, Section 2, for " the territories which, immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in Part B States; and " (w.e.f. 24.9.1984).].(3)It shall come into force on the 1st day of March, 1894.
