Section 47(1) in The Punjab Minor Canals Act, 1905
(1)The Collector shall proceed to inquire into any such claims and to determine the amount of compensation which should be given to the claimant. In assessing such compensation the Collector shall proceed as provided in section 55, but for the purposes of this section he shall also have regard to the history of the canal, the expenditure incurred thereon and the profits of the owner.Limitation of claims. - No claim for compensation shall be enforceable after the expiration of one year from the date of the notice under section 46, unless the Collector is satisfied that the claimant had sufficient cause for not making the claim within such period.
