Section 15 in The Dharmsinh Desai University Act, 2005
15. Powers and functions of Academic Council.
- Subject to the provisions of this Act, and the Regulations, the Academic Council of the University shall have the following powers and functions, namely:-(i)to exercise control over the academic policies of the University and shall be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of standards of instruction, education and evaluation in the University;(ii)to consider matters of general academic interest either on its own initiative on or a reference from the Faculty of the University or the Board and to take appropriate action thereon;(iii)to recommend to the Board such Regulations as are consistent with this Act regarding the academic functioning of the University including discipline of students; and(iv)to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the Regulations.
