361. Court empowered to make formal investigation. -
[A Judicial Magistrate of the first class] specially empowered in this behalf by the Central Government and a [Metropolitan Magistrate] [ Substituted by Act 12 of 1983, Section 17 and Schedule, for " Presidency Magistrate" .] shall have jurisdiction to make formal investigation into shipping casualties under this Part.
