Advani to elect Shri Charanjit Singh Atwal as the Deputy Speaker of Fourteenth Lok Sabha. (Motion adopted) MR. SPEAKER: Now we come to the very important task of the election of Deputy Speaker. We will take up the Motions for Election of the Deputy Speaker. I call upon Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee to move the motion standing in his name. श्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी (लखनऊ) : अध्यक्ष महोदय, मैं प्रस्ताव करता हूं :

"That Shri Charnjit Singh Atwal, a Member of this House, be chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House."SHRI SUKHBIR SINGH BADAL (FARIDKOT): Sir, I want to second it. MR. SPEAKER: I allow you. But it should not be taken as a precedent.
SHRI SUKHBIR SINGH BADAL (FARIDKOT): Sir, on behalf of Dr. Rattan Singh Ajnala, I second the Motion. MR. SPEAKER: Now the Motion moved by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and seconded by Shri L.K. Advani is before the House for consideration. I am putting this motion to the vote of the House. The question is:
"That Shri Charnjit Singh Atwal, a Member of this House, be chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House." The motion was adopted.
MR. SPEAKER: The motion is carried and I am very happy to declare that Shri Charnjit Singh Atwal has been chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House. The Leaders may usher him to his Chair. 11.09 hrs. (Shri Charnjit Singh Atwal was conducted to the Chair by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Leader of the House, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and the Leader of the Opposition Shri L.K. Advani.)
