''The Court has not debated, and is not deciding any broad and
general question of principle whether evidentiary material obtained
by the use of a taperecorder without the concurrence of a human
being listening to the same sounds is admissible or is not admissible
in evidence in a criminal trial".
But it is significant to note that the Court of Criminal Appeal rejected the
contention of the counsel for the accused that there has been any question
of introduction of hearsay evidence at the trial by the evidence of the police
officer giving evidence after refreshing his memory from the tape.
