10. In view of above provision of law, any person and even an apprentice falls within the definition of 'Workman'. When a person appointed as apprentice is a 'Workman', definitely the ad-hoc appointee will also come within the definition of 'Workman'. In view thereof, it is held that claimant Sh Surender Singh has the status of 'Workman'. Accordingly, this issue is decided in favour of the workman and against the management.
