The combination of all three measures will only be helpful in slowing down the spread of the disease. However, delivering a vaccine is easier said than done. From timely regulatory approvals to devising protocols for inoculation, in a country like India, with over 1.38 billion population, there can be quite a few challenges authorities will have to tackle.
Several countries have already drawn up plans to ensure priority access to any approved COVID vaccine for the essential workers like defence men, healthcare workers and teaching staff. Many also feel that the elderly need to be inoculated first. Indian authorities too need to figure out the priority groups which would need coverage first.
