1. The Department of Posts undertook the exercise pertaining to the vacancy year 2013-2014 to fill up vacant posts of Postal Assistants and Sorting Assistants in 22 Postal Circles in the country. The written examination/aptitude test, comprising Paper- I and a computer/typing test, comprising Paper-II was entrusted to an agency named M/s. CMC Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

2. On the basis of the result declared in different Circles process of issuing letters offering appointments commenced. The successful candidates were sent for training at Postal Training Centre and on completion of the training were posted as Postal Assistants or Sorting Assistants. Complaints were received (14 of 15) [CW-15389/2016] regarding large scale malpractices. An Enquiry Committee was constituted. It reported mass irregularities in the State of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttrakhand and Chhattisgarh. Thus, 5 out of 22 Postal Circles were effected. The postal authorities terminated the services of those who were appointed in these 5 Circles.
