3. The case of the Petitioner is that the petitioner applied for the issuance of passport in application No.MD4063616714321. The petitioner's application for grant of passport was refused by the Passport Authority, on the ground that the C.C.No.779 of 2023 on the file of the learned Judicial https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis Magistrate No.I, Madurai, C.C.No.236 of 2022 on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate, Sivakasi and C.C.No.196 of 2017 on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Sivakasi, are pending as against the petitioner. He further stated that those cases are arising out of false complaint made by his uncle as if it a matrimonial dispute, viz., one is for dowry harassment and another one is for domestic violence. The petitioner's marriage life came to an end in a week and the divorce was granted by III-
(c) refuse to issue the passport or travel document or, as the case may be, refuse to make on the passport or travel document any endorsement.5/16

Subject to the other provisions of this Act, the passport authority shall refuse to issue a passport or travel document for visiting any foreign country under clause
(h) that the applicant has been repatriated and has not reimbursed the expenditure incurred in connection with such repatriation;
(i) that in the opinion of the Central Government the issue of a passport or travel document to the applicant will not be in the public interest.
4) For deciding the issue at hand, Section 6(2)(f) will be relevant. A reading of the said provisions shows that the power of the Passport Authority to refuse issuance of passport under Section 5(2)(c) is governed by Section 6(2). Thus, for any of the reasons given in Clause (a) to (i) of Section 6(2), the Passport Authorities can refuse to issue a passport in exercise of power under Section 5(2)
