15.2. The appendix 1 sets out the scores that can be granted for academic performance indicators (APIs) in recruitments and Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) promotions. Marks for various categories are provided in this appendix and category III D deals with the research guidance. This category details maximum points for the university and college teachers position. Under the head of Ph.D., it is 10 marks for each candidate who was awarded degree and when thesis is submitted, it is 7 marks for each candidate. Nowhere in the AICTE Regulations, it is stated that the candidate has to satisfy the UGC norms.
