by the noise pollution caused on account of the petitioner's
industrial unit manufacturing plastic ... that the State Pollution
Control Board had not suggested limiting the working hours.
The Tribunal found that there was noise pollution caused by
the operation
Police Act, 1960 , empowered the authorities to issue circulars
to control noise pollution. Relevant Sections of the Act reads thus:-
"16. Inspector-General ... whom complaints had been lodged by the
respondent welfare association for causing noise
pollution during the course of their regular prayer
locality, by this public interest
litigation; against the acute noise pollution caused by the 5th and
6th respondents. The 5th respondent is a temple ... noise pollution; but has, by Exhibit P3, informed the District
Collector of its willingness to assist the "authority" under the
Noise Pollution (Regulation
restaurants function till mid-
night and the sound of the grinders causes noise
pollution according to the petitioners.
5. The locus standi of the petitioners
heavy vehicles, causing health
hazards to the petitioners/plaintiffs and
others, due to breathing dusty air and also from
causing noise pollution. Along with
main allegation was that the music
played in the gym is causing noise pollution. The authorities
concerned realised that there is no nuisance from running

part of respondents 1, 3 and 5 to avert noise pollution caused by the
4th respondent.
2. The averments in writ petition in brief ... have a peaceful living without any noise pollution from the 4 th
respondent. It is contended that the noise polluting activities
property and
that holy mass and religious ceremonies were being conducted
without causing any hardship, nuisance or inconvenience to
anybody. It is stated that only ... only valid contention
of the petitioners was with regard to noise pollution caused by
the usage of the loud speakers which has already been
remedial measures against the 8th
respondent in the event of causing noise pollution from St.
Antony's Forane church, Ollur by use of loud ... grievance of the petitioner is in relation to
the sound pollution caused by the eighth respondent i.e.,
