Lingayat caste. The ‘Lingayat’ caste continued to remain in Category
III-B.

with the main caste. Father belongs to Lingayath or
Lingavantha, may be incidentally Ganiga. It goes without any
proof that ... found, petitioner
does not belong to Hindu Ganiga but he belongs to Lingayat
Ganiga.

17. Though Ganiga is found in both Group
both Ganiga and
Lingayat Ganiga are found at Sl. No.164 of the list of
OBCs and as such, both Ganiga and Lingayat Ganiga
coming ... Ganiga, Ligayat Ganiga,
Ganigar are found. Thus, Ganiga is a separate
classification from Lingayat Ganiga.
12. Though in the year 2009, Lingayat and Veerashaiva
Ganiga

as belonging to the 'Bhovi' caste though as per the school records, her
caste was indicated as 'Ganiga ... entitled to issuance of a caste certificate showing
her as belonging to 'Bhovi' caste instead of 'Ganiga' Caste.
