Grievous hurt has been defined under Section
320 IPC which provides total 8 kinds of hurt which are
designated as grievous. No other kind ... injury was grievous in
nature and in which category of Section 320 IPC the said
grievous hurt falls. In the MLC, it is mentioned
following kinds of hurt only are designated as "Grievous": S.320 IPC.
Grievous hurt.The following kinds of hurt only are designated ... grievous hurt. Whoever voluntarily causes
hurt, if the hurt which he intends to cause or knows himself to be likely to
cause is grievous hurt
Section 397. Robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to
cause death or grievous hurt.- If, at the time of
committing robbery or dacoity, the offender uses ... deadly weapon, or causes grievous hurt to any person,
or attempts to cause death or grievous hurt to any
person, the imprisonment with which such
hurt. It provides :
Whoever voluntarily causes hurt, if the hurt which he intends to cause
or knows himself to be likely to cause is grievous ... hurt, and if the hurt which he
causes grievous hurt, is said "voluntarily to cause grievous hurt."

hurt. It provides:
