Committee in its report had recommended as under:
"NET should be retained as a compulsory requirement ... dated
12th November, 2008 to UGC to issue regulations to make NET
compulsory for appointment of teachers/lecturers in universities. The
relevant portion

14/06/2006. By this amendment NET shall remain
compulsory requirement ... exempted from appearing passing NET examination.
Thereafter, there was second amendment and as per
the Regulation 2006, NET shall remain compulsory

In 2002, the above noted note was substituted with the
following:-
"NET shall remain compulsory requirement for

Again in 2006, the note was substituted as under:-
"NET shall remain compulsory requirement for

Regulation 2000, with reference to NET qualification, it was stated as follows:
"NET shall remain the compulsory requirement for appointment as lecturer even ... from appearing in the NET examination."
By Regulation 2002, it was prescribed as follows:
