-E. Punishment for bribery. Whoever commits the offence of bribery shall be punished with imprisonment of either ... extend to one year, or with fine, or with both : Provided that bribery by treating shall be punished with fine only. Explanation Treating' means that
corrupt practice for the purpose of election under these Statutes, namely:- (a) Bribery i.e. any gift, offer or promise by the candidate
deemed to be corrupt practices for the purposes of this Act:

171B. Bribery. (1) Whoever
