The petitioners have invoked the writ jurisdiction of this Court for issuance of mandamus directing the respondents to count their daily wages as Special Police Officer (SPO), rendered before their respective regularization as qualifying service for the purpose of pensionary/retiral benefits in consonance with the judgment rendered in CWP No. 2371 of 2010, titled as Harbans Lal vs. The State of Punjab and ors., decided on 31.08.2010 and also in view of the law laid down in CWP No. 9936 of 2017, titled as Sukhjeet Singh and others vs. State of Punjab and others, decided on 15.02.2018, and the order dated 01.04.2019 passed in CWP No. 7127 of 2019 titled as Jarnail Singh and others vs. State of Punjab and others (Annexures P-7 and P-8 respectively). In the alternative, the petitioners have also prayed for issuance of a direction to the respondents to decide legal notice dated 28.05.2020 (Annexure P-11) in the light of the mandate of this Court.
