13. It would be relevant here to advert to the judgment of the High Court of Karnataka in M. Subba Raju v. Syed Mahaboob, 1984 Acc CJ 130. This was a case of fracture and dislocation of the hip bone which resulted in the shortening of the right leg by an inch and half with the result that the injured could not sit with crossed legs and needed a stick for walking. A sum of Rs. 45,000/- was awarded as general damages.
