In this connection reference may be made to S. Anup Singh v. Sardarni Harbans Kaur, AIR 1958 Punj 116, which laid down,
"The erstwhile Patiala State was an independent and sovereign State, and its Ruler, so far as internal matters were concerned, exercised powers identical with those exercised by the Parliament in England. So far as internal matters were concerned his words had the weight and authority of law, and he exercised all the powers of a sovereign and discharged all his functions as such in matters judicial, executive and administrative."
