The alternate submission canvassed by him was that an extra judicial confession is a weak piece of evidence and for this purpose reliance was placed on a Division Bench decision of this Court reported in SHAH vs COMMISSIONER OF WEALTH TAX, 1978(1) Kar.L.J. 30 wherein this Court took the view that such a confession is not of much evidentiary value and that it requires corroboration.
