22. It appears that the learned Sessions Judge has based the
conviction on confession made before the police and thereafter, tried
to find out corroboration by other evidence. That should not be the
approach of the Sessions Court, as held by the Supreme Court in the
case of Chandrakant Chimanlal Desai vs. State of Gujarat
reported in 1992 Cri LJ 2757. The following observation of the
Supreme Court in the said decision is relevant and is quoted below:-
