In State of Haryana & Ors. Vs. Bhajan Lal & Ors., (1992)
Supp (1) SCC 335, this Court held that it may not be possible
to lay down any precise, clearly defined and inflexible
guidelines or rigid formulae and to specify an exhaustive list of
the cases, where such power should be exercised. However, by
way of illustration, the Court laid down the following
categories of cases wherein such power could be exercised
either to prevent abuse of the process of the Court or otherwise
to secure the ends of justice.
