14. We also consider it appropriate to refer to the following note of caution stuck by the Supreme Court in University of Mysore v. Govinda Rao, for the tribunals or Courts while deciding the matters like the present one.

"The term 'academic qualification is not to be restricted just to degrees or diplomas possessed by a teacher. There is no discernible compulsion either in the language or context of the Statute to ascribe such a narrower meaning to the term.... While diplomas or degrees in the subject are undoubtedly academic qualifications, they are not exhaustive of the qualifications pertaining to academic posts...." (para 9)
