Pulukuri Kottaya vs King-Emperor on 19 December, 1946

The scope and ambit of Section 27 of the Evidence Act were illuminatingly stated in Pulukuri Kotayya v. Kind-Emperor in the following words, wich have become locus classicus: (AIR p.70, para 10) „It is fallacious to treat the "fact discovered" within the Section as equivalent to the object produced; the fact discovered embraces the accused as to this, and the information given must relate distinctly to this fact.
