5. The Apex Court in the case of Umesh Kumar Nagpal Vs. State of Haryana, 1994 SCC (4) 138 has stated that the object of granting compassionate appointment is to enable the family to tide over the sudden crisis and to relieve the family of the deceased from financial destitution and to help it to get over the emergency. The compassionate appointment is not to be taken as a routine matter of course. In the present case, the father of the applicant died on 22.02.2000, and thus for 17 years, the family has managed without the benefit of compassionate appointment.
