Birdhichand Sarda vs. State of Maharashtra reported in
(1984) 4 SCC 116 has referred a portion of the work of
Robert J. Kastenbaum in his book 'Death, Society and
Human Experience' analyses the causes, the
circumstances, the moods and emotions which may
drive a person to commit suicide. The learned author
has written that a person who is psychotic in nature
and suffers from depression and frustration is more
prone to commit suicide than any other person. The
