Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission Vs. Reliance Energy
ltd. And Others (2007) 8 Supreme Court Cases 381, wherein it is
specifically stated considering that a complete machinery has been
provided in Ss. 42(5) and 42(6) of the Electricity Act, 2003 for redressal
of grievances of individual consumers, held, wherever a forum /
ombudsman has been created under the 2003 Act for redressal of
grievances of consumers, the consumers can only resort to these bodies
for redressal of their grievances. It is stated by the Hon'ble Supreme

Court that "now by virtue of sub Section (5) of Section 42 of the Act,
all the individual grievances of consumers have to be raised before
this forum only".
