definition of the 'NRI'
under Section 2(dd) of the Act, it is clear that the special
category of landlords NRI could also ... expression 'NRI' used in Section 2(dd) of the
Act has been clearly defined and there is no ambiguity
necessitating any external
respondents 5 and 6, concedes that under Section 19-DD of the Act where any land is granted for gallantry at any time before January ... added in the Act on April 20, 1968, by Punjab Act No. 12 of 1968. It reads as under:--
"19-DD. Notwithstanding anything contained
Restriction Act, 1949 (for short 'the Act of 1949') and the Punjab Rent Act,
1995 (for short 'the 1995 Act') were ... that the expression Non-
Resident Indian used in Section 2(dd) of the Act of 1949 had been clearly
defined and there was no ambiguity

Amendment Act No.9 of 2001, whereby the provisions like Sections 2
(dd) , 13-B and some modifications in the existing Section ... landlord subject to fulfillment of certain conditions.
[4] Section 2 (dd) of the Act says that :-
"2 (dd) "Non-resident Indian" means
would be falling under the
definition of Section 2 (dd) of the Act and is entitled to seek eviction under
Section ... counsel for the respondent has merit.
Section 2(dd) of the Act reads as under:
"(dd) " Non-resident Indian" means a person
would fall
in the definition of NRIs under Section 2(dd) of the Act which is reproduced
as under:-
"2(dd) "Non-resident ... from the very
definition of the NRI in Section 2(dd) of the Act, it is not
necessary for the NRI-landlord to permanently return
expression `NRI' used in Section 2(dd) of the Act
has been clearly defined and there is no ambiguity
necessitating any external ... meaning of the expression `NRI' given in Section 2
(dd) of the Act is that a person of Indian origin living abroad
whether settled

to be negated. Section 2(dd) of the Act clearly defines an N.R.I. which reads as
