was part of a forest or was lying within a forest ... that any reserved forest
shall cease to be reserved; or any forest land is used for non-forest
purpose; or any forest land is assigned
forest rights and occupation in forest land in Forest Dwelling
Schedule Tribes & Other Traditional Forest Dwellers who have been
residing in such forests ... falling within any forest area and includes any Unclassified
Forest, Un-demarcated Forest, Existing or Deemed Forest, Protected
Forest, Reserve Forest, Sanctuaries and National Parks
notified land.
11. Section 2(c) of the Act defines "forest" thus:
(c) "forest" means any land principally covered with naturally ... trees and under growth and includes any forest
statutorily recognized and declared as reserved forest,
protected forest or otherwise but does not include any land
Division,Circle or State

Sub-section (8) of Section 2 defines a Forest Officer and
the same reads as under:
