State of Chhattisgarh8 , while
dealing with the harassment in custody, deliberating on the
concept of harassment, the Court stated thus:-
“22. At this juncture ... meant by the

Lexicon, 2nd Edn., the term “harass” has been
defined thus:
“Harass.—‘Injure’ and ‘injury

within the ambit of Section 3 of the DVA, 2005, which defines “domestic
violence” in wide terms. The High Court made an apparent error ... contempt petition filed by the appellant wife. The appellant wife having
being harassed since 2000 is entitled for protection order and residence
order under Sections

before the occurrence there was cruelty or harassment only attracting
the provision of Section 113-B.
15. The expression “soon ... case of dowry death the circumstances
showing the existence of cruelty or harassment to the deceased are not
restricted to a particular instances but normally
