of scaled score. Scaling places the scores from different tests or
test forms on to a common scale. There ... different methods of
statistical scoring. Standard score method, linear standard score
method, normalised equipercentile method are some of the
recognised methods for scaling."
(Emphasis
three issues for
consideration, the first of which was whether the method of scaling
adopted by the Service Commission in respect of Sections ... relating to
two candidates by name Suneetha and Suvarna that the method of
scaling adopted by the Service Commission had distorted the
results
That the scaled marks were finally compiled for
final result and merit was prepared on the basis of the
scaled marks of all the subjects ... judgment reads
as follows:
"30. In the present case, the scaling method is being
adopted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission
scaling system to
an examination where the question papers were
compulsory and common to all candidates. The
deficiencies and shortcomings of the scaling method ... inflexible requirement of law with
regard to adoption of the scaling method to an
examination where the candidates are tested in
different subjects
thereof for each such posts.

present case the selection of
petitioner was admittedly made applying wrong scale and method
of selection, and it would be useless formality to remand back
shall be
inserted, namely:-
