Section 15 in Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University Act, 2019

15. Academic Council.

(1)The Academic Council shall be the Academic Body of the University and shall, subject to the provisions of this Act and the regulations, have control and be responsible for the maintenance of standard of instructions, education and examination within the University and shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by regulations. It shall have the right to advise the Board on all academic matters.
(2)The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:-
(i) the Vice-Chancellor; : Chairman
(ii) the Dean of Faculties; : Member
(iii) all the Heads of the Departments orSchools of the University; : Members
(iv) the Principals of five colleges situatedin State to be nominated by the Board; : Members
(v) Director, Public Instructions (Colleges),Punjab; : Member
(vi) Director, Technical Education andIndustrial Training, Punjab; : Member
(vii) two eminent industrialists to benominated by the Board; and : Members
(viii) two eminent educationists to benominated by the Board. : Members
The nomination of members mentioned at serial numbers (iv), (vii) and (viii), shall be for a period of two years.
