The Court Fees (Orissa Amendment) Act, 1997Orissa Act No. 13 of 1997Published vide O.G.E. No. 1416/19.11.1997, w.e.f. 2.4.1998, vide O.G.E. No. 372, dated 28.3.1998.An Act further to amend the Court-fees Act, 1870 in its application to the State of OrissaBe it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Orissa in the Forty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows :

1. Short title and commencement.

(1)This Act may be called the Court-fees (Orissa Amendment) Act, 1997.

(2)It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint in this behalf.

2. Amendment of Schedule I.

- In Schedule I to the Court-Fees Act, 1870 as amended in its application to the State of Orissa-

(a)for Article 3, the following article shall be substituted, namely :

Plaint or written statement pleading a set-offor counterclaim in any suit of the nature cognizable by a Courtof Small Causes when the amount or value of the subject-matterdoes not exceed two thousand and five hundred rupees.	When the amount or value of the subject-matterin dispute does not exceed five rupees.	Thirty-five paise
	When such amount or value exceeds five rupees,for every five rupees, or part thereof, in excess of fiverupees, up to one hundred rupees.	Thirty-five paise
	When such amount or value exceeds one hundredrupees, for every ten rupees, or part thereof, in excess of onehundred rupees, upto five hundred rupees.	Seventy-five paise
	When such amount or value, exceeds five hundredrupees, for every ten rupees or part, thereof, in excess of fivehundred rupees up to one thousand rupees.	One rupee
	When such amount or value exceeds one thousandrupees, for every one hundred rupees, or part thereof, in excessof one thousand rupees, up to two thousand and five hundredrupees.	Seven rupees and fifty paise; and

(b)in the Table of rates of ad valorem fees payable on plaints, etc., mentioned in Article 3, the following entries shall be added at the end under appropriate, columns, namely :
