Section 6(a) in Rules for the Biju Pattnaik Award for outstanding performance in promotion of Sports and Games
(a)To be eligible for the Award under Rule 5 (i) (a), a sports person should have not only good performances in National/International level with excellence during previous years but also should have continued to contribute for promotion of Sports in his/her individual capacity even after retirement from sporting career. He/she should have shown qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and sense of discipline.
