Section 26 in Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulation) Rules, 1976

26. Procedure for admission of students in Under Graduate/Post-Graduate courses in private aided Arts and Science Colleges (Non-minority).

(1)The application form for admission of students shall be in the form approved by the Director.
(2)The cost of application form shall be as fixed by the Government, from time to time.
(3)The Director shall announce the date for issue of applications and fix the last date for the receipt of filled in applications in the college every year.
(4)The receipt of filled in application shall be acknowledged by the college in a tear-off acknowledgement form.
(5)The Principal shall prepare the list of eligible candidates based on merit-cum-reservation and shall place it before the Selection Committee.
(6)The Selection Committee consisting of the Principal, two Senior Selection Grade Lecturers of the College and one Co-opted member of the teaching staff belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes of the college shall finalise the selection list, following the reservation as provided in rule 25. The Selection Committee shall finalise and approve the selection list within one week after the last date of receipt of applications is over. The approved selection list will be displayed on the notice board of the college. A copy of the approved list shall be sent to the Joint Director of Collegiate Education of the Region concerned for scrutiny. Based on the approval, the Principal concerned shall issue admission cards.
