Section 262 in Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1994

262. Emergency Powers of the Government, Commissioner and District Collector.

(1)Subject to such control as may be prescribed, the Government, the Commissioner or the District Collector may, in cases of emergency, direct or provide for the execution of any work, or the doing of any act which a Gram Panchayat or Executive Officer is empowered to execute or do, and the immediate execution or doing of which is in his opinion necessary for the safety of the public, and may direct that the expenses of executing such work or doing such act shall be paid by the person having the custody of the Gram Panchayat Fund in priority to any other charges against such fund except charges for the service of authorised loans.
(2)The powers of the nature referred to in sub-Section (1) may be exercised by the Government in the case of a [Mandal Praja Parishad] [Substituted 'Mandal Parishad' by Act No. 41 of 2006, dated 23.9.2006.] or a [Zilla Praja Parishad] [Substituted 'Zilla Parishad' by Act No. 41 of 2006, dated 23.9.2006.] subject to the variation that for the expression "Executive Authority", the expression "[Mandal Praja Parishad] [Substituted 'Mandal Parishad' by Act No. 41 of 2006, dated 23.9.2006.] Development Officer" or as the case may be "Chief Executive Officer" and for the expression "Gram Panchayat Fund", the expression "[Mandal Praja Parishad] [Substituted 'Mandal Parishad' by Act No. 41 of 2006, dated 23.9.2006.] Fund" or as the case may be the "[Zilla Praja Parishad] [Substituted 'Zilla Parishad' by Act No. 41 of 2006, dated 23.9.2006.] Fund" is substituted.
