Section 11(a) in The U.P. Basic Education (Teachers) (Posting) Rules, 2008
(a)It would be compulsory for newly appointed teachers to serve in backward blocks described in Appendix A. If a teacher has already served for five years in a backward block, then his posting on promotion would be considered in the light of his seniority and availability of vacancies. If a male/female teacher has served less than five years in a backward block, in that case, on promotion he/she would be posted in the backward block for the remaining period. Such male/female teachers who even after 5/2 years give choice to serve in the backward block, shall be allowed to serve in the backward block.
