Section 6(1) in The Calcutta Hackney-Carriage Act, 1919
(1)The Registering Officer shall be a Deputy Commissioner of Police specially appointed by the [State Government] [Words Substituted by the Government of India (Adaptation of Indian Laws) Order, 1937 and the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] for this purpose, and he shall keep a register in which he shall enter every hackney-carriage under the class prescribed therefor by by-law made under section 71.
