Section 6 in The Calcutta Hackney-Carriage Act, 1919
6. Duties of Registering Officer. -
(1)The Registering Officer shall be a Deputy Commissioner of Police specially appointed by the [State Government] [Words Substituted by the Government of India (Adaptation of Indian Laws) Order, 1937 and the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] for this purpose, and he shall keep a register in which he shall enter every hackney-carriage under the class prescribed therefor by by-law made under section 71.(2)Every act, matter or things done by the Registering Officer, under or by virtue of this Act, shall be subject to the control of the Commissioner of Police.
