Section 41 in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
41. To Indian Authorities.
- The following regulations shall be observed in regard to return salutes:(a)Salutes to the President shall not be returned;(b)From Foreign ships-of-war-All salutes from foreign ships of war, either to Indian Naval Ships or forts, shall be returned gun for gun. Should there be no fort or battery from which such salutes can be returned, the senior Naval office present will return them gun for gun.
