The Criminal Law Amendment (Extension) Act, 1957Act 44 of 1957Statement of Objects and Reasons. - "The object of this Act is to replace the Criminal Law Amendment (Extension) Ordinance, 1957, recently promulgated to secure the uniform application of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932, in the new State of Punjab, (vide Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 19th October 1657, p. 1659).For Statement of Objects and Reasons, see Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary dated the 19th October, 1957, p. 1659.Received the assent of the president on the 16th November, 1957, and was first published in the Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 5th December, 1957.An Act to extend to the territories which immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in the State of Patiala and East Punjab States Union the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932, as applicable to the territories which immediately before the said date were comprised in the State of Punjab.Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.

(1)This Act may be called the Criminal Law Amendment (Extension) Act, 1957.
(2)It shall come into force at once.

2. Extension of Central Act No. XXIII of 1932.

- So much of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932, as amended from time to time as extends to the territories which immediately before the 1st November, 1956 were comprised in the State of Punjab and relates to matters with respect to which the State Legislature has power to make laws for the State, is hereby extended to and shall be in force in the territories which immediately before the said date were comprised in the State of Patiala, and East Punjab States Union.

3. Repeal.

- The Criminal Law Amendment (Extension) Ordinance, 1957 (Ordinance No. 8 of 1957), is hereby repealed.
