Section 4(1) in Assam (Temporarily Settled Areas) Tenancy Act 1971
(1)There shall be, for the purpose of this Act, only the following classes of tenants, namely"(i)Occupancy tenant, that is to say, a tenant holding immediately under a proprietor, land-holder or settlement-holder other than land-holder, and having a right of occupancy in the lands held by him;(ii)non-occupancy tenant, that is to say, a tenant holding immediately under a proprietor, land-holder or settlement-holder other than land-holder but not having a right of occupancy in the land held by him; and
