SHRI M.B. RAJESH (PALAKKAD): Thank you very much, Sir. I would like to draw the attention of the Government of India to a gross violation of principles of natural justice by the Medical Council of India (MCI). On the complaint of a whistleblower, Dr. K. V. Babu, in 2010, the MCI had declared certain commercial endorsements of certain products of the Pepsi Company by the Indian Medical Association as illegal. Though, the MCI had declared that commercial endorsement as unethical and illegal, but, now, at the behest of some vested interests, the same MCI is harassing the whistleblower doctor and not only the doctor, but his wife, who is not even a doctor and over whom the MCI has no jurisdiction at all.
I am confining my speech and requesting the hon. Minister of Health for his intervention to protect the whistleblower, and to prevent the MCI from harassing the doctor and his family. With these words, I conclude.
