Section 14 in Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University Act, 2014

14. Academic Council.

(1)The Academic Council shall be the Academic Body of the University and shall, subject to the provisions of this Act and regulations, have control and be responsible for the maintenance of standard of instructions, education and examination within the University and shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties, as may be conferred or imposed upon it by regulations. It shall have the right to advise the Board on all academic matters.
(2)The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:-
(i) the Vice-Chancellor; : Chairman
(ii) the Dean of Faculties; : Member
(iii) the Heads of the Departments/Schools of theuniversity; : Members
(iv) the Principals of ten colleges affiliated to theUniversity by rotation: : Members
  Provided that no Principal shall be nominatedagain unless all others have been nominated at least once asmember of the Academic Council;    
(v) two eminent industrialists to be nominated bythe Board; and : Members
(vi) two eminent technologists to be nominated by theBoard. : Members
The nomination of members mentioned at serial numbers (iv), (v) and (vi), shall be for a period of two years.
