Section 58(1)(a) in The M.P. Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1976

(a)The Head of Office shall go through the service book and the service roll, if any, of the Government servant and satisfy himself as to whether the annual certificates of verification for the entire service excluding the portion referred to in sub-rule (3) of Rule 29 are recorded therein.
