Section 23 in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
23. In Presence of Senior Authority.
(1)No junior Naval authority shall be saluted in the presence of a senior naval authority.(2)Similarly, no junior Army or Air Force authority shall be saluted in the presence of a senior Army or Air Force authority respectively.(3)Personal salutes (namely those fired on being visited by officials), as well as salutes to Flag, are included in each case.
