Section 1 in North-Eastern Hill University Act, 1973
1. Short title, extent and commencement.-
(1)This Act may be called the North-Eastern Hill University Act, 1973(2)It extends to the [State of Meghalaya] [Substituted for the words 'States of Meghalaya and Nagaland' by Nagaland University Act (35 of 1989) Section 48 (6-9-94) ] and the [State of Arunachal Pradesh] [[[Union territories of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram] Substituted by Mizoram University Act, 2002 (8 of 2000) ]](3)It shall come into force on such [date] [[19th July, 1973: Vide Notification No. S.O. 2231, see Gazette of India, Pt. II, Section 3(ii), p. 2742.]] as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
