Section 68 in Maharashtra Factories Rules, 1963

68. [ Minimum dimensions of man-holes. [Substituted by G.N. dated 17.4.1975.]

- In any factory no person shall be allowed or required to enter in any chamber, tank, vat, pipe flue or other confined space, which persons may have to enter unless the said chamber, tank, vat, pipe flue or other confined space, is provided with a man-hole which may be rectangular, oval or circular in shape unless there is other effective means of egress and-
(a)in the case of rectangular or oval shape, be not less than shoulder width of the person concerned plus 8 c.m. in length and 30 c.m. wide;
(b)in the case of a circular shape be not less than shoulder width of the person concerned plus 8 c.m. in diameter.]
